n the past decade, this part of Buckinghamshire has undergone rapid change, and the pace of change is intensifying. Growth in employment, particularly in the service sector, allied to new housing development, has meant increasing demands on education and training which the College continues to meet. We want every local business to have staff with the skills and knowledge needed for commercial success in this information age. In addition, we want to help to create and be part of a life-long pathway of learning, so we are building on the links we already have with other providers of education and training, including schools, universities, professional associations and voluntary organisations. Despite the relative prosperity of the area there are many within our community for whom education and training are but a distant memory. We want to create and re-kindle a love of learning which promotes self-confidence and a belief that we can fulfil our dreams. This is the experience of many of our students. As we enter into a period of rapid change with a complete new build, we remain focused on working alongside, and meeting the needs of, each learner. Who we are Aylesbury College provides education and training for approximately 4,500 part-time students and 1,000 full-time students. It is a traditional FE College, operating a wide range of vocational courses including hospitality and catering, construction, care, hair and beauty and sport. A range of A Levels and GCSEs are also available. Founded in 1962, Aylesbury College of Further Education (as it was then known) was maintained by Buckinghamshire County Council until incorporation in 1993. The College serves a population of 640,000, based in Buckinghamshire (excluding Milton Keynes) and Aylesbury Vale.
